Photo reflections from Nepal--Retreat pt 3

Lastly, these are some random pics of the building and other miscellaneous photos I took :p

The beautiful retreat centre that Josephine brought her staff to was this home built by a Korean Missionary Couple. It is no longer a home now and its used by many of the Nepalese churches to hold their camps or retreats.

I've no idea what this plant is but its beautiful red leaves litter the whole retreat centre, really cheering up the whole place :)

peek-a-boo! I see you!

This is Hana. She's also a YA (24) and was one of my translators. If you remember my earlier pictures, she was also the one who helped me facilitate the games :) Josephine asked her to do that as she's a youth leader and a worship leader for her church. Her enthusiasm is highly contagious and she has a tremendous zest for life... truely a firecracker :p AND, she has a great voice to boot! haha... Works as a sales girl at Josephine's Thamel (Kathmandu's Orchard Rd) TouchNature shop. Though in this picture, I wonder what she was doing hanging out of the window... reminds me of Eutychus (guy who fell sldeep, fell from the 3rd story, died & got raised from the dead) in Acts 20:7-12. :p

Photo reflections from Nepal--Retreat pt 2

The group of them singing their hearts out for the Lord :)

My parents acting out some skit... never did come round to asking them what they did :p

My youth/young adults and I :) Thank God that I had a very good time with them. On my right is Devi, my translator. She's also Josephine's accountant-to-be... still under training as attends college (for her Bachelor of Accountancy) in the mornings and works for Josephine in the afternoons.

Tse Wei with the married couples.

Photo reflections from Nepal--Retreat pt 1

Some snapshots of people and some of the activities that we did.

The children and an OM helper (they helped us plan activities for the children)

My wake-up game for Jo's staff

This got them all talking for days... was glad they enjoyed the games

Photo reflections from Nepal--Lunch!

Here we see the kids having lunch! Which by the way is at 10.30am :p

At the end of the day, food is itself a universal language of sorts :p BUT... take a look at the amount the children eat!

Photo reflections from Nepal--Babies!

The next few posts will consist of events and pictures taken from the retreat that the Team organised. I was very busy at this retreat as I had to perform multiple roles--devotion leader, workshop leader, games co-ordinator, photographer, etc... Therefore, some of these pics were not taken by me but by others as well. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy them and can catch a glimpse of what I did there.

This is the whole group... it was so large that us helpers couldn't fit into the pic!

My favourite baby! He LOVES to pose for me :p Here he is in his "I wonder what Santa's gonna get me for Christmas" look ;)

Ok, techinally, she's not a baby but still...

Photo reflections from Nepal--Its people pt 4

This page takes an honest look at the children of Nepal and each one tells a story.
I'll leave you to think.

Photo reflections from Nepal--Its people pt 1

Only the first one in this set is in black & white while the rest are just snapshots of the people in Nepal.

Washing clothes by the side of a main water pipe... that's how most of them wash their clothes in Kathmandu

Don't ask me what he's doing... i just liked his pants :p

If you think this guy is good with his head... you should see what some of the women can do!

I'll be coming round the mountain when she comes... on my super-duper, immensensly-overloaded bicycle

Photo reflections from Nepal--B&W

I've been back (from Nepal) for almost a week now and today's the first day where I can catch my breath! :p With the flurry of Christmas preparations and the need to find my feet on Singapore soil after treading the foothills of mountains, the past week was spent in a blur.

And now... I can finally sit down, think, reflect and share some things that I've learnt.

But first, my first set of pictures taken... I present to you, the B&W collection :)
(I welcome and encourage any comments :p)

Traditional wood-cutter... Glad to see a man working in a Nepali village... its a rarity

Up to this day, I simply cannot recall what captured the children's attention and what had the woman's (in the background) attention... *ponder*

When I see the elderly working hard to make a living by selling huge baskets of vegetables, I'm often left speachless...

Tibetan woman spinning wool for the carpet weavers to use. "The North Face" vest she's wearing adds a spin to the scene :p

One of my favourite pictures. She posed for me and smiled that gentle smile... wonder what she must have been thinking... hmm...
